今年で十七回目となる千桜会（せんおうかい）様のお茶会。
第一回目から、ずっとお花を担当させていただいております。
今年は初の4月開催。
桜の季節が過ぎ、新緑の美しい季節を表現してみました。

This is the 17th tea gathering hosted by the Senoukai.
We have been in charge of the floral arrangements since the very first gathering.
This year marks its first time being held in April.
After the cherry blossom season,
we chose to express the beauty of fresh greenery as spring deepens.
We present this through a collection of 27 images.

今年も、代々木の青少年センター内にある「桜花亭（おうかてい）」での開催です。

As in previous years, the tea gathering is held at Oukatei,
located within the National Olympics Memorial Youth Center in Yoyogi.
玄関のお迎え花は、藤の花にしてみました。
今回気づいたのは、お客様は最初にいらしたときは
知人に挨拶をしたりするので、迎え花はあまり見ないで通り過ぎてしまうこと。
けれども、帰り際にふと振り返って挨拶をされたとき、
「あら、藤がきれいね……」と、あらためて目に留まる。
迎え花は、お見送りの花にもなる。そんな新たな気づきでした。

For the entrance arrangement, we chose wisteria.
One thing we noticed this time was that when guests first arrive,
they are often busy greeting acquaintances
and tend to pass by without really noticing it.
Yet, on their way out, as they turn back to say their farewells,
it catches their eye—“Oh, how beautiful the wisteria…”
It was a gentle realization that
a welcoming arrangement can also become a parting one.
偶然ですが、お着物の色も藤色に。

By chance, the color of her kimono was also wisteria.
本席のお花は、八重のクレマティスと山もみじ。
掛け軸の言葉は「青山緑水」（せいざんりょくすい）。
青々とした山と、緑に映える美しい川の流れを指す禅語だそうです。

For the main tea room, we arranged double-flowered clematis and Japanese maple.
The calligraphy on the hanging scroll reads “Seizan Ryokusui.”
A Zen phrase that evokes verdant mountains and the clear flow of a river.
お正客の席からお花を愛でて。

Admiring the flowers from the main guest’s seat.
寄付（よりつき）のお花は山あじさい。
掛け軸の言葉は、「花鳥風月宿」（かちょうふうげつのやど）。
花が咲き、鳥がさえずり、風が吹き、月が輝く……
そうした美しい自然の景色や情緒が、この世のすべてに宿っている、
という精神性を示した言葉だそうです。

For the waiting area, we arranged mountain hydrangea.
The calligraphy on the hanging scroll reads “Kachō Fūgetsu no Yado.”
Flowers bloom, birds sing, the wind blows, and the moon shines…
a phrase expressing the idea that such beauty and poetic sensibility of nature
reside in all things in this world.
この青の美しいこと。
瑠璃色と表現できるでしょうか。

Perhaps it could be described as lapis lazuli.

The inventory of tea ceremony
長廊下のお花は大手毬（オオデマリ）にしてみました。
紫陽花に似ていますが、ガマズミ属で別種の花となります。
紫陽花より少し先に咲く、ちょうど今が旬のお花です。

For the corridor leading to the tea room, we chose viburnum (Odemari).
Though it resembles hydrangea,
it belongs to a different species within the viburnum family.
It blooms slightly earlier than hydrangea—right now, at the height of its season.
小さい花器には短く切って、花が器に座るようにいけるのがコツ。

With smaller vessels, the key is to cut the stems short
so that the flowers sit naturally within the container.
大手毬の咲く小径をイメージして。

Inspired by a small path lined with blooming viburnum.
一巡目のお客様が本席に入られます。

お客様も和らいだ表情で楽しめる、フレンドリーなお茶会です。

A friendly tea gathering where guests can relax and enjoy themselves.
社中のお弟子さんが各回毎に、お茶を点てて振る舞います。

The students prepare and serve the tea for each session.
合計で二服いただくお茶の、一服め。
茶菓子は青紅葉の焼印が入ったもの。

The first of two bowls of tea.
A manju with a green maple leaf stamp is served.
一服目のお茶は濃茶様の抹茶を用いて点てられた、濃さと甘味のある味わい。

The first bowl of tea is prepared using matcha typically reserved for thick tea,
resulting in a rich, full-bodied flavor with a gentle sweetness.
二服目の茶菓子は藤の花と水面に広がる波紋（水輪）。

The sweets for the second bowl of tea
feature motifs of wisteria blossoms
and ripples spreading across the water in gentle circles.
二服目のお茶は一服目のお茶とは別の薄茶用のお茶で、味はすっきりしています。
茶碗も変わります。

For the second serving, a different tea with a lighter flavor is served,
and the tea bowl is also changed.

あづさ先生が茶会の亭主を、社中のお弟子さん達が点前やお茶を運ぶ半東を務めます。

Ms. Azusa serves as the host of the tea gathering,
while members of Senoukai perform temae and serve as hanto,
assisting in serving tea to the guests.

今年は天候にも恵まれ、見事な春日和のお茶会となりました。
